What is bKYND? Pronounced “be-kind”, The bKYND Company is the world’s first premier health and wellness company designed specifically for students and young adults ages 12 - 25.
What Services do you provide your Members and Guests? We currently provide age-appropriate group fitness classes to students and young adults ages 12 - 25, as well as in-school programming throughout the MNPS School District.
Who is bKYND for? / Who would benefit from bKYND Classes? Our group fitness classes, tailored training, and in-school programs are for ALL EXPERIENCE LEVELS! Our services are perfect for any student athlete looking to cross-train while in or out of season, or for any student/young professional looking to workout, get healthy and join a social, active community of like-minded peers who are all working towards building themselves a happier, healthier tomorrow!
Where are you Located? All of our regularly scheduled classes are held outside at Hillwood Presbyterian Church - 6220 Hickory Valley Rd, Nashville, TN 37205. Our in-school programming is held on-site at each school, typically in the gym or outdoors if weather allows.
What are the physical health benefits to working out? Regular physical activity has numerous physical benefits for people of all ages. These include increased lung efficiency, improved heart health, stronger bodies, and a decreased risk of conditions such as high blood pressure and Type II Diabetes.
What are the mental health benefits to working out? For students who may experience difficulties focusing in the classroom or other daily activities, exercise can help expend energy and improve self-regulation. Physical activity is a great way to manage stress, and has been shown to have a positive effect on both behavior management and learning capacity.
What are the emotional health benefits to working out? According to the American Psychological Association and numerous other sources, kids who exercise regularly display lower rates of depression and anxiety. Additionally, being physically healthy correlates to higher levels of self-esteem and a more positive outlook on life!
What does HIIT stand for, and why is it good for me, or if I’m a parent, my child? The term HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training, and has many benefits for both teenagers and young adults, regardless of fitness background. The combination of calisthenics, cardio and resistance-based training improve one’s strength, stamina, and overall physical, emotional and mental health. Our HIIT classes always include a variety of workouts that are both challenging and fun!
Why Resistance training? What Equipment do you use and Why? Resistance training leads to improvements in both muscular strength and endurance and it’s great for all fitness levels! bKYND utilizes resistance bands of varying difficulties to allow for the true customization of each member’s workout. Our use of resistance training helps make every class great for all fitness levels! Additionally, many traditional weight-training exercises can be replicated with resistance bands, which are safer, just as effective, and more appropriate for varying ages.
Are coaches background checked? Yes, all coaches have successfully completed a Criminal Background Check (CBC) on both a local and national level.
What training do coaches complete? In addition to our general employee training, all coaches have trained for and obtained certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid. All coaches are also mandatory reporters through the Tennessee Department of Children's Services. Training for our on-site programming is completed on an annual basis to ensure that all of our coaches are equipped to provide a safe, quality experience for all participants.
